The Alter Rebbe - Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi

The greatness of the Rebbeim of Lubavitch and their incredible accomplishments, mesiras nefesh and love for all Yidden is well known. The complete story of their lives, however, has been unavailable to the English reader.

In response to this dire need, we are pleased to present a new series: The Rebbeim: A Biography. The first volume focuses on the life of Rav Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the Baal HaTanya V'HaShulchan Aruch. Or as he is called in Lubavitch, the Alter Rebbe.

His grandson and third Rebbe of Lubavitch the Tzemach Tzedek, once said:  "When one hears the story of a good deed [performed by] his Rebbe, he becomes connected to the Rebbe's power of action; when one hears words of Torah that his Rebbe said, he becomes united with the Rebbe's power of speech, and when one listens to the singing of the Rebbe, he becomes bound to the Rebbe's power of thought."  By reading about the Alter Rebbe's entire life, accomplishments, and teachings; we too can connect our own powers of thought, speech and action to those of the Alter Rebbe. In  doing so, we will be following in his ways.

The Alter Rebbe was moser nefesh for Ahavas Yisroel and spreading the teachings of Chassidus. His accomplishments in both these areas opened new channels for hastening the coming of Moshiach, may it be speedily in our days.
